who actually decides on genre names categories and so forth, becaus eI constantly see poeple on here get bashed if they say a band is.. post screamo. and get a bunch of crap for it because it is Post hardcore....which the first defination i think was a better one, so who is the genre namer king???Most bands, nowadays, are labeled by the fans/haters of the Band.
Like if they like it they'll call it, example, "Metalcore" or if they hate it they'll call them "Emo Fags", etc.Its actually done by a complex bureaucratic system centralized in Intercourse, PA. The head of the "Genre Naming Conclave" is not a person, but rather a supercomputer built in the 1970s that is actually just a glorified random number generator. A band's name is entered and it spits out a card with a series of holes punched out of it. This card is then entered into a system where it is observed by 33 levels of bureaucrats, who are each overseen by quality control supervisors. Each level gives their own assessment of what the holes punched out of the card reads. These assessments are given back to the supercomputer, who processes them and spits out another card with a number on it. This number corresponds with a list of different genres and subgenres. This card is read aloud into a microphone. The speakers attached to this microphone are in a sealed, sound-proof room containing 20 hand picked common people - a focus group. The focus group is given no other information, and then gives their gut reaction to what they have just heard. If the response is overwhelmingly positive - that is the end. If it is not, the whole system starts over again. and will repeat until a genre is found.Hardcore and screamo both suck so who cares??????Me.The genre namer king is a wise old man called common sense.
